Last week Serbian Lacrosse Federation organized a National Box Lacrosse Team camp as part of preparations for the European Box Lacrosse Championships which will take place next summer in Turku, Finland. Stu Sterparn, head coach of our national team, made his way from Edmonton, Canada to lead the camp and alongside him, our goalie Marko Ćelić (Toronto) and our defenseman Sava Grkinić (England) travelled to Serbia to join the national team candidates in what was an intense (prolonged) weekend of box lacrosse.

Starting from the October 6 session held in Crna Rupa (Black Hole) arena/facility in Belgrade, followed up with another practice on the next day was the Belgrade portion of the camp. Accent was placed on transition drills as well as basic offense and defense elements. We also had this part of the camp open to newer players in order to grow and teach box lacrosse. All players showed that they are determined to learn and to improve their skills. We also had one sponsor, CANLAX send us stringing supplies, meshes, laces and sidewalls for all players, which will make it a lot easier to keep all sticks well-strung and functional throughout the preparations and during the lacrosse season. On Saturday (October 8) morning, everything moved to Novi Sad, where the second part of the camp took place. This part was held in Ice hockey arena which is part of the SPENS sports complex in Novi Sad.

We would like to express our gratitude to Stu who flew over half of the world to run this camp as well as Sava and Marko who also flew in to Serbia to take part in the camp. Additionally, many thanks to players from Belgrade Zombies and Novi Sad Titans who showed the initiative and willingness to train, learn and improve in an effort to become a part of the national team that will represent Serbia next summer in EBLC2017 in Finland. As a family, we march on to prepare for this competition!
